In 1964, Antonio Tan and his wife Perlita
started the single proprietorship from leased office space at Wellington Building, Binondo, Manila. It was basically a small marketing office for wire rope, logging supplies and
generally hardware items.
By February 1996, Remington Industrial Sales
Corporation was organized and moved to its office at 964 Benavidez Street,
Binondo, Manila. The corporation then imported wire ropes, logging
supplies and other hardware items primarily serving the logging, construction, mining and other heavy industries. Client base increased
from within Manila area up to the southern part of the Philippines.
And Remington is now a wholly owned family corporation.
As part of its continuing strategy to expand its business, Remington undertook to include
other
steel products in its inventory. From Mild Steel/Hot Rolled Plates, inventory expanded to include Structural Steel
Products (Channels, Equal/Unequal Angles and Wide Flange/H and I Beams), Boiler and Structural Plates. Marketing efforts gained depth and
clientele from northern to southern Philippines
now include the country's major industries shipping, construction, mining,
fishing,
cement,
telecommunications, sugar, petroleum and others.
By January 1998, Remington transferred its main office to its' newly built six-storey
building located at EDSA corner General Concepcion Streets, Kalookan City. Location is very ideal, and within proximity are North Harbor, Manila International port, Navotas
and the North Luzon Expressway. Also strategically located are its 5 company owned
concrete warehouses (total area: 2.1 hectares) -- 4 in Kalookan and 1 Meycauayan, Bulacan. Gross annual revenue reached
Peso 1 billion, employing more than 170 employees and servicing more than 300 active
clients within the Philippines upto the present.
